Critical Issue

According to the 2018 US Census Bureau 39.5 percent of the population in Silicon Valley (Alameda County, Monterey County, Santa Clara County, San Francisco County, and San Mateo County) is from underrepresented populations (Hispanic or Latino, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, American Indian or Alaska Native, and two or more races). Although, in the Silicon Valley, there are about 85,000 STEM job postings on average each month, the above ethnicities were represented at 11.6 percent of Silicon Valley’s STEM workforce (Emsi: Labor Market Analytics)
